Compassion Is Not Helpless Pity, But An Awareness And Determination That Demands Action.

Peace And The Survival Of Life On Earth As We Know It Are Threatened By Human Activities Which Lack A Commitment To Humanitarian Values. Destruction Of Nature And Nature's Resources Result From Ignorance, Greed And Lack Of Respect For The Earth's Living Things.

The Compassion We Feel Normally Is Biased And Mixed With Attachment. Genuine Compassion Flows Towards All Living Beings, Particularly Your Enemies. If I Try To Develop Compassion Towards My Enemy, It May Not Benefit Him Directly, He May Not Even Be Aware Of It. But It Will Immediately Benefit Me By Calming My Mind. On The Other Hand, If I Dwell On How Awful Everything Is, I Immediately Lose My Peace Of Mind.

It Is Not Enough To Be Compassionate. You Must Act. There Are Two Aspects To Action. One Is To Overcome The Distortions And Afflictions Of Your Own Mind, That Is, In Terms Of Calming And Eventually Dispelling Anger. This Is Action Out Of Compassion. The Other Is More Social, More Public. When Something Needs To Be Done In The World To Rectify The Wrongs, If One Is Really Concerned With Benefitting Others, One Needs To Be Engaged, Involved.
