I've Been Privileged To See The Presidency Up Close. And I Know The Awesome Responsibility Of Protecting America And The Incredible Opportunity Of Working To Try To Make Life Better For All Of You.

I Think What President [barack] Obama Has Done Is To Chart A Steady Course. When I Was There, The First Four Years We Had A Lot Of Cleanup To Do. We Inherited A Lot Of Bad Feelings From The [george W.] Bush Administration, And Much Of What I Spent My Time Doing Was Traveling Around The World Reassuring Friends And Allies.

People Are Stereotypes, They Are Caricaturized. It Comes From Both Sides Of The Political Aisle, It Comes From The Press. It's All About Conflict, It's All About Personality, And There Are Huge Stakes In The Policies That Are Being Debated, And I Think There's A Hunger Amongst A Very Significant, Maybe Even A Critical Mass Of Americans, Clustered On The Left, Right, And Center, To Have An Adult Conversation About How We're Going To Solve These Problems ... But It's Not For The Fainthearted.

I Don't Think Most Americans Understand That, For Certain Very Wealthy People, Our Federal Income Tax System Is A Subsidy System That Makes Them Richer.

You Show People What You're Willing To Fight For When You Fight Your Friends.
