Lent Is A Favorable Time

Going Out To Others In Order To Reach The Fringes Of Humanity Does Not Mean Rushing Out Aimlessly Into The World. Often It Is Better Simply To Slow Down, To Put Aside Our Eagerness In Order To See And Listen To Others, To Stop Rushing From One Thing To Another And To Remain With Someone Who Has Faltered Along The Way.

We Must Restore Hope To Young People, Help The Old, Be Open To The Future, Spread Love. Be Poor Among The Poor. We Need To Include The Excluded And Preach Peace.

Evangelization Does Not Consist In Proselytizing, For Proselytizing Is A Caricature Of Evangelization, But Rather Evangelizing Entails Attracting By Our Witness Those Who Are Far Off, It Means Humbly Drawing Near To Those Who Feel Distant From God In The Church, Drawing Near To Those Who Feel Judged And Condemned Outright By Those Who Consider Themselves To Be Perfect And Pure.

The Teachings Of The Gospel Have Direct Consequences For Our Way Of Thinking, Feeling And Living.

To Build Peace Is Difficult But To Live Without It Is Torment.
