If You Want To Change Society Then You Must Tell An Alternative Story.

In Schools, Including Universities, Most Resources Are Spent To Purchase The Time And Motivation Of A Limited Number Of People To Take Up Predetermined Problems In A Ritually Defined Setting. The Most Radical Alternative To School Would Be A Network Or Service Which Gave Each Man The Same Opportunity To Share His Current Concern With Others Motivated By The Same Concern.

It Takes More Time And Effort And Delicacy To Learn The Silence Of A People Than To Learn Its Sounds. Some People Have A Special Gift For This. Perhaps This Explains Why Some Missionaries, Notwithstanding Their Efforts, Never Come To Speak Properly, To Communicate Delicately Through Silences. Although They "speak With The Accent Of Natives" They Remain Forever Thousands Of Miles Away. The Learning Of The Grammar Of Silence Is An Art Much More Difficult To Learn Than The Grammar Of Sounds.

We Cannot Go Beyond The Consumer Society Unless We First Understand That Obligatory Public Schools Inevitably Reproduce Such A Society, No Matter What Is Taught In Them.
